Lukasz Olek (born 1982 in Warsaw) is a painter, illustrator and creator of applied graphics. Initially dedicated to monochromatism – using traditional drawing techniques with the help of pencil and ink – over time he discovered the richness of colour possibilities, especially acrylic paints. His works include both large-format abstractions in cool colours and figurative paintings with dark portraits.
Olek is fascinated by the works of Francis Bacon, Mark Rothko and Lucian Freud. His works are in-depth studies of texture and colour, using original materials and painting media. His works have been presented at many exhibitions, collectively and individually, and have found buyers in many countries around the world.
‘I see art as a way of meditation to achieve peace of life. This path, I hope, has no end, because there should always be something worth discovering.’
